FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
In person sessions will recommence Quarter 2, 2022.
Your safety is our priority and we’ll be ensuring you feel comfortable and safe whilst attending and singing.
This is Phase 1 of in-person sessions and we are excited to come together to sing again.
We acknowledge that singing has been identified as a 'super spreader' activity due to the spreading of droplets during singing and we have undertaken a thorough risk assessment of our planned activities to ensure your safety.
This may provide some slight inconvenience such as physical distancing to minimise the risk to our singers and to comply with state and federal regulations and venue conditions. We will also be operating out of our spacious Covid-Safe venue in Coburg North.
You can learn more about all of the safety measures that will be implemented by reviewing our FAQ’s below. We realise not everyone is ready to attend in-person yet however members will be able to access a private Zoom session if they are unwell or prefer to remote learn.
I’m not comfortable returning to choir yet. Can I continue to be a part of the online experience?
We will provide an on-line experience for members who are unwell or who prefer to learn remotely.
Will MCCHOIR be limiting the capacity of their venues?
Yes, we are limiting our capacity to ensure social distancing in our venue and lobby areas. As the local, state, and federal guidelines evolve we will update our seating limitations accordingly and keep you updated.
How will MCCHOIR practice social distancing in its locations?
We will be seating singers in fixed and spaced seats accordingly to keep a safe distance between singers in the venue. Members from the same family are asked to adhere to the allocated seating plan for ease of compliance with regulations. We ask that every individual practice social distancing while in the lobby or common areas including toilets and during the coffee break. Please make use of our spacious venue but be careful not to make food mess everywhere so Jason doesn't have to vacuum.
Will I need to wear a mask?
Currently restrictions allow singing without face masks where there is adequate social distancing, under these requirements face masks are optional at MCCHOIR sessions. We are closely watching local, state, and federal guidelines to ensure all recommended safety precautions are implemented to ensure your safety, Please keep an eye on your email and our facebook page as conditions of entry to our sessions may change dependent or regulatory requirements.
How is MCCHOIR cleaning its facilities?
We will conduct regular cleanings through approved contractors to ensure proper sanitation. Additionally, hand sanitizer stations will be located throughout the venue. Singers are asked to sanitize upon entry to the venue.
Will restrooms be open?
Yes, all restrooms will be open and will undergo routine cleaning. Singers are required to thoroughly wash hands for at least 20 seconds before and after using the facilities.
Will MCCHOIR be screening those who attend in person?
Temperature checks are not required for singers – if you look unwell you may be asked to undergo a contactless temperature check. Visibly unwell singers who attend will be asked to
IMPORTANTLY: Should you have an elevated temperature or feel sick you will be asked not to enter the venue.
We ask everyone to use good judgment: if you are feeling ill or have a family member who is feeling ill, please stay home until it is safe to attend.
If you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or been asked to self-isolate please do not attend the session.
Attendance at each session will be taked using a sign in sheet in order for us to monitor singers in attendance. Should you become unwell following a session and test positive for Covid please email us at [email protected] so that we can let those in attendance to monitor for symptoms and/or test.
What is the ticketing and refund policy?
Please note membership is non-refundable and may not be exchanged for another singer as each singer must be recorded for Covid tracing compliance. In exceptional circumstances MCCHOIR may at its discretion provide a credit to your membership. Our pricing structure is such that we have limited places for singers and we require maximum attendance to cover the increased cost of sessions due to cleaning and social distancing restrictions.
Do I need to be Vaccinated?
Due to the physical nature of singing and creation of aerosols we require all singers to be vaccinated or provide a medical exemption.
Will I be required to check in at the venue?
Please sign in when you arrive for contact tracing purposes.
What if I'm sick on the day?
We ask that you do not attend if you are unwell and access the private Zoom link to learn remotely.
ABOUT MCCHOIR
Melbourne Contemporary choir, affectionately known as MCCHOIR is a 'New Breed of Choir' and one of our city's most highly regarded contemporary vocal ensembles. We are a fresh and progressive group that performs a wide repertoire of popular songs including a growing catalogue of inspiring original tunes.
We perform at big name and local events, such as at Melbourne Museum for White Night, the Boxing Day Test for Mastercard, Run Melbourne, major Carols events, and also for social change groups like the Salvos. We have performed along side performers like Rhonda Burchmore, Denise Walter, Anthony Callea, James Morrison and more at some of Melbourne's premier venues such as The Palaise Theatre and Crown Palladium and the MCG.
